This came as a shock at first, to not only learn this truth, but also to never have the opportunity to meet my father. Since then I have fully embraced my parentage, but I am now desperate to learn more about my ancestral heritage. I know that the name Pat(t)erson is Scottish but I have just learned that my great-grandfather - a Mr John Pat(t)erson was born in Bangor North Wales in about 1835. I know the Highland clearances were responsible for the dispersement and emigration of many Scots during the 19th century, does anyone out there know of any Scots who moved to Wales as a result of the Highland Clearances? I know this is a long shot, but I have very little information to go on and I am eager to learn more about my great-grandfather's heritage - 'was he more likely to be a Scotsman or Welshman'. |

He became President of the railway years later, acquired alot of land in Delta, British Columbia. He went on to become Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia around the beginning of the 1900's. As our Family moto goes..."for what we strive".He married twice and his second, younger wife, Emma was conned by our Federal Government at the beginning of W.W. 2 to give up at least 20 acres to build an airport in Ladner, BC (known as Boundary Bay Airport) for the war effort (expropriated).
